Abi Reader is a third generation dairy farmer managing a 220-hectare mixed farm and herd of 200 Holstein Friesian and Dairy Shorthorns in Glamorganshire, South Wales. She has ambitions for the unit, including reducing carbon footprint through teamwork, improving management, improving antibiotic stewardship and using technology and various trials.

Abi is always looking for ways to inform and educate people and has mentored both veterinary and agricultural students; the farm hosts 8-12 school and student placements every year. When Abi is not on-farm, she is involved in a number of organisations, including Chair of CHECS and Chair of NFU Cymru Dairy Board. She is a proud farmer, and has hosted LEAF Open Farm Sundays since 2014 and co-founded CowsOnTour, a team of farmers and rural inhabitants who go into schools to educate youngsters on the food and farming story.

Abi was CHECS Chair from 2018 – 2023.
