Sharing our passion for animal health

The Premium Cattle Health Scheme (PCHS), run by SRUC Veterinary Services, is one of the largest CHECS licensed schemes in the UK. We have a track record of running health schemes since 1998. We work in close partnership with vet practices and our member farmers and offer a cost-effective programme of testing and management to control BVD, Johne’s Disease, IBR, Leptospirosis and Neospora alongside the CHECS Bovine TB Herd Accreditation programme. We employ over 20 experienced vets who are experts in identifying and reporting farm animal disease. 

Membership provides an important framework for establishing the disease status of a herd, as well as guidance for reduction, eradication, and certification of freedom from disease. Our Health Schemes Team, based at our hub at St Boswells, are pleased to offer: 

• CHECS certification and sale cards.
• Fully interpreted results sent promptly to you and your vet with preferential testing rates.
• PCHS database enabling you to keep track of your herd’s testing progress.
• Pre-printed barcode labels to prevent transcription errors.
• Reminders sent when testing is due.
• An option to advertise on a PCHS membership database to thousands of potential buyers.
