IML was established in 2011 as the only internationally accredited Irish provider of independent payment testing for milk purchasers. While milk testing will always be a large part of the business here at IML, over the years, we have extended our service offering to Irish farmers to include disease testing of cattle participating in Animal Health Ireland initiatives and carrying out CHeCS testing for the Irish Limousin society Limoleader scheme which has now been replaced by the IML Healthplus scheme.

IML Healthplus offered by IML is a CHeCS licensed scheme put in place to promote and encourage improved herd health among commercial and pedigree herds on the island of Ireland. CHeCS accreditation is available for Johne’s Disease, BVD, IBR, Leptospirosis and Neospora. IML is also a designated laboratory for the testing of BVD (AHI and AHWNI), Johnes (AHI) and IBR (AHI) meaning that Healthplus members can achieve accreditation with the National programmes as well as international recognition through CHeCS.

IML has two ISO17025 accredited laboratories- the main laboratory is situated at Bailieborough in Co. Cavan and a 2nd laboratory based in Moy, Co. Tyrone with all results quality control checked before release. IML provides Herdplus members with Pen cards at sales, test reminders and accreditation certificates.
